“The Bear” Star Liza Colón-Zayas Just Gave A Powerful Speech After Winning Her First Emmy

Liza Colón-Zayas just became the first Latina to win the Emmy Award for Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Comedy Series!

She won for her incredible portrayal of Tina Marrero in The Bear. In particular, this award recognized her work in Season 2.

To kick off her acceptance speech, she thanked her husband, David Zayas, who told her to write a speech. “I didn’t because I didn’t think it would be possible,” she admitted.

“And to all the Latinas who are looking at me? Keep believing.”

“And vote. Vote for your rights,” she concluded.

What a speech! And becoming the first Latina to win this category on the first day of Latine Heritage Month? That’s what I’m talking about!

In the press room, Liza beamed beside her costars, Jeremy Allen White and Ebon Moss-Bachrach, who won Outstanding Actor in a Comedy Series and Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Comedy Series, respectively.
