The 57-Year-Old Promise by Del Hickman Review

I received a free copy of this book in exchange for a fair and honest review. All opinions are my own.

Author Del Hickman shares the story of the child that he and his wife found a home for, and the journey through adoption in the book “The 57-Year-Old Promise”.

The Synopsis

57 years after praying over a three-day-old baby, a teenage couple found out how God marvelously, more than they ever could have expected, actually DID answer that prayer! From conception, to birth, through childhood to adulthood, and finally to reunion. A true life story that will keep your attention from beginning to ending!

This was a heartfelt and emotional read. The author did a wonderful job of finding the right balance between the personal aspects of the adoption process while also infusing their faith and emotional state during the entire journey. The fast pace of the narrative and the engaging writing style really held the reader’s attention greatly.

The heart of this narrative was the family connection that was found within the author’s story. The connection between the author and his wife, and the exploration of the adoption process and beyond, made this such a compelling read. The importance of faith and the way their journey brought them together years later with the child they brought into the world was a heartfelt connection that readers will be able to make with the author’s story.

The Verdict

Memorable, heartfelt, and engaging, author Del Hickman’s “The 57-Year-Old Promise” is a must-read nonfiction book of faith and adoption. The sheer volume of detail the author was able to bring into such a short read, and the emotional weight of the author’s journey will keep readers invested in this powerful read.
