What is the new Assassin’s Creed game? The beauty of having the entirety of human history at your fingertips is that there’s never a shortage of new places to explore, and new stories to tell. Assassin’s Creed has run quite the gamut of locales so far, from Victorian England to Ancient Egypt – but what is the new Assassin’s Creed game?

We all know that the Assassin’s Creed Shadows release date is on the horizon, but what else is coming out that we can get excited about? Also, if you’re new to the series, or perhaps a lapsed assassin, what have you missed in the adventure game series? We’ve collected the upcoming and recent Assassin’s Creed games so you know where to jump in.

If we’re talking main installments, there are 13 Assassin’s Creed games, with countless other spinoffs, expansions, and even a board game or two. It can be tough to keep track of such an expansive series, which is why we’ve gathered a list of the latest Assassin’s Creed games, and what we can expect next from Ubisoft.

Assassin’s Creed Shadows – 15 November 2024

In Assassin’s Creed Shadows, you’ll get to explore feudal Japan as one of two protagonists. We have the lethal, surgical shinobi, and the direct, powerful Samurai. Adapt your playstyle to get the job done, and delve into two of the most personal stories told in the AC universe so far. Given the time period, we’ll be able to explore bustling towns, wander peaceful villages, and marvel at the scenery of pre-industrial Japan. While you wait for the AC Shadows release date, you can also read our preview to get a taste of how the game feels.

Assassin’s Creed Mirage – 5 October 2023

Mirage tells the story of Basim, an assassin with a more traditional aesthetic (in the AC universe, anyway). We’re first introduced to Basim in Assassin’s Creed Valhalla, and in Mirage we can see him rise from his humble beginnings in the city of Baghdad. It’s about family, revenge, and new beginnings – it’s also the first Assassin’s Creed to not be interrupted mid-game with modern-day shenanigans. Here’s hoping that continues.

Assassin’s Creed Hexe – TBC

We don’t know too much about Hexe, but the rumblings we have heard are creepy and very exciting. The teaser trailer shows the AC logo made from twigs, hanging from a tree, ala The Blair Witch Project. Yves Guillemot said in a 2024 interview that Hexe “is going to be a very different game from Assassin’s Creed Shadows. We’re going to surprise people, I think.” Assassin’s Creed survival horror, anyone?

Assassin’s Creed Infinity – TBC

Assassin’s Creed Infinity is set to act like a hub for all of the AC games. It’ll look and function like the Animus, allowing you to quickly jump between any of the games that you own, but also progress the modern-day narrative that has been playing out since the beginning of the franchise. AC Shadows and AC Hexe will be the first two games to be launched via Infinity, and it will expand from there. While we’re unsure when it launches, if Shadows is the first game to use it as a launcher it could well appear alongside that later this year.

Assassin’s Creed Jade

Jade is the first fully open-world Assassin’s Creed game on mobile platforms. Ubisoft plans to optimize the game for mobile controls. We already know that it’ll be set in 215 BC in China, but further details are yet to come. It was revealed as Codename Jade, but at Gamescom in 2023, its full name as Assassin’s Creed Jade was confirmed. It’ll also be the first game in the series to let you fully customize and create your own character.

Assassin’s Creed Invictus

During the dedicated Assassin’s Creed showcase in 2022, Ubisoft revealed that it has been working on a standalone multiplayer Assassin’s Creed game. Multiplayer first appeared in AC Black Flag, followed by AC Unity and more multiplayer gameplay has been top of many people’s wishlists for some time. It’ll launch alongside the Assassin’s Creed Infinity game hub, and Ubi describes it as the “best and most innovative multiplayer in the Assassin’s Creed franchise” according to two job listings that briefly appeared on the Ubisoft careers website.

Those are the Assassin’s Creed games that you should have on your radar. If you’ve played everything available, and cannot wait for the next one, we have a list of the best PC games here for something you can try right now, and we also have a list of upcoming PC games so you can add some more things to your wishlist.
