The 2024 Emmy Awards will be one Lamorne Morris will remember for years to come, for more reasons than one.
Despite starring in New Girl, one of the most talked-about hit sitcoms in the past decade, and it being nominated for five Emmys, tonight is Lamorne’s first time attending the award ceremony.
He earned his very first Emmy nomination for Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Limited or Anthology Series or Movie for portraying Trooper Witt Farr in FX’s Fargo.
The look on his face when Bridgerton‘s Nicola Coughlan and Baby Reindeer‘s Nava Mau announced him as the winner was priceless.
“I want to thank god for allowing me to be here,” Lamorne said in his acceptance speech. “I also want to thank god for my amazing mother who raised me. She’s been my biggest champion ever since I came out of her…you know.”
“My beautiful daughter Lily, I told you I would do it. You’ve always doubted me,” Lamorne joked, referencing the emotional video of him learning that he was nominated for his first Emmy as his daughter made fun of his reaction.
Lamorne went on to thank the cast and crew as he took the moment in.
His win was met with a roaring applause, not just from his peers in the room, but from fans across the internet as well:
