iOS 18.0.1 coming soon as Apple preps iPhone and iPad bug fixes – 9to5Mac

Apple is now testing iOS 18.0.1, according to 9to5Mac analytics. This update will likely include fixes for a few different bugs that iPhone and iPad users have reported experiencing. It comes two and a half weeks after the release of iOS 18 for iPhone users.

iOS 18.0.1 coming soon

iOS 18.0.1 testing appears to be in the early stages, as the first signs of the version in 9to5Mac’s analytics only appeared in the last couple of days. MacRumors has also spotted evidence of iOS 18.0.1 in their analytics. The update will likely be released in the next couple of weeks.

Since iOS 18 was released earlier this month, a smaller number of notable bugs and glitches have emerged. For example, there’s a problem in Messages that causes the app to crash repeatedly and can lead to data loss, as we were first to discover last week. Some iOS 18 and iPhone 16 users have also noticed touchscreen responsiveness issues, as we reported over the weekend.

Apple also notably pulled iPadOS 18 for the M4 iPad Pro after users reported that it bricked their devices. Apple halted the update’s rollout last week and has yet to re-issue it for M4 iPad Pro users. Apple has confirmed to technicians that it is working on a fix but did not provide a timeline. iPadOS 18.0.1 will likely be released alongside iOS 18.0.1.

While iOS 18.0.1 will focus on bug fixes and other improvements, Apple is also working on iOS 18.1. This update will contain the first Apple Intelligence features and a number of other changes. Apple has confirmed that iOS 18.1 will be released sometime in October.
