“I Fell In Love With Her As Katheryn Hudson”: Orlando Bloom Honored Katy Perry With An Adorable Speech

Following a brief split in 2017, Katy and Orlando got engaged in 2019, and the following year, they welcomed their daughter, Daisy Dove Bloom.

Needless to say, Katy and Orlando are each other’s number-one fans. So, when a special guest was needed to introduce Katy at last night’s MTV VMAs, there was seemingly only one man for the job.

In case you missed it, Katy was this year’s recipient of the MTV Michael Jackson Video Vanguard Award, and as is customary, the winner thrilled fans with a jam-packed performance of her biggest hits.

Ahead of Katy’s 10-minute medley — which included songs like “California Gurls,” “Teenage Dream,” and “I Kissed a Girl” — Orlando was welcomed to the stage to give a glowing introduction, in which he praised his fiancée’s “remarkable” talent.

“You fell in love with her as Katy Perry. I fell in love with her as Katheryn Hudson,” he began, referring to her by her birth name.

The Pirates Of The Caribbean star went on to say that Katy’s music has “brought a sense of joy and laughter” to fans and inspired “generations of people from all over the world.”

Once her high-energy, gravity-defying performance was over, Orlando presented Katy with her trophy. And in her acceptance speech, she returned the favor with a cute shoutout to him and their four-year-old daughter.

“Thank you to Orlando for keeping me grounded, celebrated, and doing the dishes,” she said, calling back to her recent confession about their home life on the Call Her Daddy podcast. “And lastly, for my Daisy, the only flowers I’ll ever need.”
