And millions of them are sharing their unease with the brand’s marketing, like user jimmykryack, who said, “Y’all are like, ‘It’s okay if you let Gen Z do marketing for brands — the people who did Wendy’s on Twitter did it so well… And now we have to deal with whatever the fuuuuuuuuuuuck is going on on the Nutter Butter account. This is y’alls fault!!!”

Wendy’s has been known for its subtle roasts on Twitter since 2017. And, in 2020, after Dunkin’ Donuts launched a campaign for their new Spicy Ghost Pepper Donut by roasting multiple fast food chains, Wendy’s skillfully started burning back on the platform.

“Cookie do the nutty dance.”

This random image of a cat will appear multiple times for like a split second between the dancing Nutter Butters. (I had to pause the video to screenshot because it is that quick.)

The chant repeats a few times before ending with this:

If you want to get the full experience, we’ve embedded the video below. That being said, here’s your warning to NOT take an edible before watching.

I present Nutter Butter Tok:

Besides the initial shock and curiosity about how this video came about…

Many people are fearful this is what Gen Alpha content looks like:

Because there are a good amount of people who said it was “cute.”

Fellow brands are also having mixed reactions. ColourPop is terrified.

Subway and Clearblue on the other hand think it is funny and they relate.

A lot of others just seem confused.

However, one thing is clear, people are talking abut Nutter Butter.

So much so that its making people who haven’t thought of them in years buy their cookies again.

So many TikTokers are voicing concerns asking if they’re okay that Nutter Butter is stitching their videos with responses like this:

According to them, they are, indeed, doing alright.

So whether or not the content is analog horror or just straight-up made for Gen Alphas…

It is reminding people of other historically weird marketing moments.

Nutter Butter, you do you.

BuzzFeed has fearlessly reached out to Nutter Butter for comment and we will update you if the cookies respond.
