Rather than listing a bewildering array of exotic plants, it sticks to a list of a hundred of the most easy-to-find beauties. It offers information on where best to plant them in your garden as well as providing tips on looking after them. The app also lets you create a record of what you’ve planted and lets you track the progress of your plants by letting you capture and store pictures of them as they grow.

If your knowledge of gardening is limited, and you don’t want to be overwhelmed with endless lists of plans and complex instructions, Gardenista is a good place to start.
