Elon Musk Provides X Users With The Perfect Solution To Keep Their Feeds ‘Toxic Free’ But Many Aren’t Convinced

Tech billionaire Elon Musk thinks he has the perfect solution to keep users’ feeds toxic-free. However, the suggestion is far from convincing.

Think along the lines of posting more images of puppies as recommended by Musk. To be more specific, he says sharing images of cute and nice little dogs will assist in counteracting all of the negativity.

Musk shared how little people know about the workings of algorithms. The more you interact with toxic material and debates, the more you’ll see them. So why not go about revamping the feed with some positivity like puppies, Musk adds.

The post was published on Sunday through his X account where he said that the feed also wishes to display what users want to see. So you need to stop interacting with things you don’t like and you won’t see it anymore.

Musk added how much of an impact forwarding posts had on users’ feeds. You would get the same in return if anything negative or toxic was shared. Even if your intention was to share your anger disgust or frustration over something, the feed thinks you enjoyed it so much that they’ll show more.

If you ask us, Musk is right. The mechanism is simple and the quicker you realize this, the better. The news comes after many people complained to Musk about the algorithm. It’s been a controversial topic since day one and the fact that we’re still discussing this is news.

Thankfully, Musk was nice enough to put his views on this front forward. He agreed because he recently sat down with friends who discussed a similar matter. He saw how much toxic and negative material they were sharing with others.

Algorithms on different social media apps behave the same way. They want to show users what they like by making predictions or assumptions from interactions. X makes recommendations based on feeds in Search, ads, and For You feeds.

X mentioned that recommendations depended on ranking, filters, and sourcing last year. This means if you’re following a candidate so religiously then you’re going to be influenced by their likes and interests too.

The feeds make use of AI systems to rank sources’ posts depending on the various types of interactions you’re putting out. It could be shares, likes, or comments made on the post. X filters the posts depending on users’ preferences and removes posts from blocked accounts, NSFW content, and posts they’ve seen.

Towards the end of last year, we saw Musk speak about new updates launching on X that would assist the recommendation algorithm. This would assist in rolling out smaller accounts as well as posts outside the users’ network.

X failed to generate an immediate response on this front or roll out a comment but it’s a very interesting topic. We’re curious to see what it has to say about it now.
