Eco-Friendly Beauty Products with Tom's of Maine

Thank you Tom’s of Maine for sponsoring this post.

So I know last year we went over a lot of my natural skincare routine and the products I love…but I wanted to do a little update because there are a few other eco-friendly beauty products and tips that I am now obsessed with and deserve a little shout out — for example Tom’s of Main Luminous White Toothpaste, Bamboo Facial Rounds, and dry brushing.

These products and tip are things that do and use every. single. morning.

I mean, mornings are more fun when you have a few things to look forward to, right? And these beauty tips are definitely what I look forward to in the morning — that, and some cold brew! 😉

So let’s dive in shall we?

I mentioned last year that I had made a decision a few years ago to convert over to a natural routine, and simplify my beauty regimen…and just a few months ago I decided to make a few more changes that are not only great for me, but also for the earth.

So first, you HAVE to get rid of that morning breath, and brighten those pearly whites, so my morning starts out with brushing my teeth.

I recently switched out both Nik and I’s tooth brushes with bamboo toothbrushes after learning how many plastic toothbrushes are thrown away each year…and let me tell you it’s an INSANE amount.

Bamboo is much better for the environment because first, it’s a natural resource that is extremely sustainable, and second they are biodegradable — meaning we aren’t filling our landfills and oceans with plastic that basically never decomposes. (I’m going to do a whole post on some super easy eco-friendly swaps like this you can do to help out as well!)

Another newbie to my routine is Tom’s of Maine Luminous White Toothpaste. Luminous White whitening toothpaste offers safe, effective whitening with only naturally-derived ingredients that work to remove surface stains for whiter teeth in two weeks. Sign my up!

It also contains no artificial flavors, colors or preservatives and no animal testing — ummm, YES PLEASE!

And you know me, I always get mine from Amazon…but Target also stocks it, so you can find it literally anywhere! I also snagged my bamboo toothbrushes on Amazon too! 😉

After my pearly whites are sparkling, I get into my next routine — DRY BRUSHING.

If you haven’t tried it yet, you haven’t lived.

Seriously, it not only exfoliates your skin, but it also leaves you with this invigorating feeling. I also have an entire post dedicated to dry brushing on the editorial calendar as well, so I won’t get too into all the deets just yet! But trust me, it’s great for circulation, lymphatic drainage, and so much more!

I dry brush literally everywhere, and even have a small brush for my face. I usually stick to only about 2-3 times per week on my face, just because the skin is more sensitive there. But again, I’m explain it all in the next week or so.

After my dry brush sesh, I hop in for a quick shower. In the shower is the next eco-friendly find for ya!

Safety razors are another amazing, and easy way to reduce plastic waste — you know the fancy razors men use?? YUP. I’m just going to touch on them briefly here because there is a bit of a learning curve here, and they deserve an entire post of their own — so keep an eye out for that post as well!

I will say however that they are SO MUCH more eco friendly than all the plastic ones taking up landfill space AND you will get a much better and smoother shave! This is the one I have, and I love it!

And now on to my regular natural beauty routine, but first I have one last little find to share…bamboo facial rounds.

YUP! Also much better for the environment.

Did you know that conventionally grown cotton is one of the most sprayed crop with pesticides? And that cotton takes a LOT of nutrient from the soil it grown in? Yeah, it can really have some negative effects on the land around it, and I use probably around 4 cotton rounds a day…yikes! That can really add up!

So I decided to find an alternative for that as well…and low-and-behold, bamboo to the rescue, AGAIN.

I found these reusable organic bamboo facial rounds from a small little Etsy shop that makes a lot of eco-friendly baby products and they are PERFECT. You just use then the same way you would normal cotton rounds, but throw them in the washing machine to clean them.

So much less waste, and in the long run…money! BOOM!

What are some of your recent natural beauty finds?
