What is the Diablo 4 Realmwalker event? Those familiar with Diablo 4 will feel right at home in an overworld event – huge bosses roaming the environs are old hat. A new addition with the Diablo 4 DLC, however, brings back an old foe – the Realmwalker – and tasks you with taking down these hulking beasts. It doesn’t end there, though, as there is plenty to explore even after you’re victorious in battle.

For those taking the plunge into the Diablo 4 DLC – and why wouldn’t you after reading our glowing Diablo 4 DLC review – the Realmwalker world event is a great opportunity to test your Diablo 4 build and earn some valuable loot in the process. Here we have the frequency and times of the event in the RPG game, plus what you need to do once you’ve downed the Realmwalker.

The Diablo 4 Realmwalker world event marks an area on your map where a huge beast will spawn – a Realmwalker – and it’s your job to take this enemy down. The issue is, initially at least, that you cannot damage the creature. You must first ‘anger’ the beast by killing the minions around it.

Once these minions have been dealt with, the Realmwalker will be vulnerable to your attacks. This is where the fight begins in earnest; the Realmwalker has several AoE attacks, and will constantly be spawning in smaller enemies. It can be a tough fight, especially if you’re alone, so as many things go in the co-op game, bring a friend if you can.

When you have defeated the Realmwalker and its minions, a portal to the Seething Realm will appear. Entering this portal will take you to a series of instanced mini-dungeons. The twist here is that you can choose how you will be rewarded for completing these instances before you go through them, with each option requiring a payment of some sort to activate. You can choose only one. The three options available are:

  • Gold: extra gold will drop from enemies. Cost: 1 Iron Chunk.
  • Equipment: additional equipment will drop from enemies. Cost: 25 Murmuring Obols.
  • Materials: additional crafting materials will drop from enemies. Cost: 5 Murmuring Obols.

The Seething Realm consists of several separate sections all linked by internal portals. Fighting your way to the end of the Seething Realm, you’ll be met with a boss-like enemy, which will award you a large amount of whichever option you chose when entering the Seething Realm.

Diablo 4 Realmwalker event times

The Realmwalker location will appear on the map every 15 minutes and is handily displayed on your world map. There is a five-minute cooldown between appearances, so you’ll have ten minutes to fell the beast before it resets and moves to a different area.

Now that you know where you can catch the Diablo 4 Realmwalker event, and what you’ll get for completing it, it’s time to get your Diablo 4 runes in order, hire a Diablo 4 mercenary, and track those beasts down.
