Co-Op Action FPS Warhammer 40k: Darktide Should Finally Be Announced for PS5 Soon

Into the light

Originally released for PC in 2022 (and Xbox Series X|S in 2023), Warhammer 40,000: Darktide could be making its way to PS5 in the relatively near future. As spotted by Gematsu, the title has been rated for Sony’s system in Taiwan — which is often a sign that things are in motion.

Darktide is from Fatshark, the same developer that brought us the largely fantastic Warhammer: Vermintide 2 on PS4, and it follows the same kind of co-op-focused, mission-based structure. Unlike Vermintide, however, Darktide takes place in Warhammer’s 40k universe — the same universe as Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2.

Darktide has had some ups and downs since its initial launch. At first, the game was quite heavily criticised for a lack of content, with many players claiming that it was pretty much unfinished. Naturally, the title has received a load of updates since then, although it never seemed to completely recover from that early barrage of negativity. Still, its brutal first-person, action-shooter combat remains a highlight.

Robert (or Rob if you’re lazy) is an assistant editor of Push Square, and has been a fan of PlayStation since the 90s, when Tekken 2 introduced him to the incredible world of video games. He still takes his fighting games seriously, but RPGs are his true passion. The Witcher, Persona, Dragon Quest, Mass Effect, Final Fantasy, Trails, Tales — he’s played ’em all. A little too much, some might say.
