What are the best weapons in Throne and Liberty? Throne and Liberty’s classless approach to combat is certainly unique, tying your role in the MMO to which of its seven weapons you wield. Naturally, each weapon has its innate strengths and weaknesses, but in Throne and Liberty strengths can be exaggerated and weaknesses mitigated depending on how you combine them.

Throne and Liberty allows you to have one main hand and one off-hand weapon in your active loadout, and as our Throne and Liberty weapon tier list will display, not all weapons are equal in terms of power – whether you’re taking down bosses in PvE or other players in PvP. So, to find out what you should be rocking in the MMORPG, as well as the best Throne and Liberty weapon combinations at the bottom of this guide, read on.

Here are the best Throne and Liberty weapons:

Tier Weapon
S Crossbow, Long Bow, Wand and Tome
A Dagger
B Greatsword
C Staff, Sword and Shield

S-tier

Crossbow

The crossbow is the ultimate glass cannon weapon, providing unparalleled DPS at the expense of squishiness. Though it’s a ranged weapon, you’ll often find yourself in close to mid-range combat as you rifle off hit after hit, making it imperative that you position well, or perish.

The crossbow’s playstyle revolves around multi-hit DPS, meaning you’ll be dealing consistent damage. Though the prospect of lots of smaller hits doesn’t sound particularly attractive at first, considering the crossbow’s ridiculous synergy with weaken effects, as well as the mobility and cooldown reduction built into its kit, it quickly becomes the ultimate bullet (bolt) hell fantasy.

Long Bow

The long bow might not have the same DPS highs as its smaller counterpart, but it more than makes up for it with its versatility. Whether as a main hand weapon or as a supportive off-hand option when paired with the wand, the long bow is fantastic if you enjoy playing a range of roles.

Unlike the crossbow’s mid-range ‘death by a thousand bolts’ approach, the long bow is more in the business of long-range nuking targets. Spacing is even more important here, though, as without the crossbow’s ridiculous mobility you’ll be swiftly wiped off the field if you’re caught by a melee-focused character in PvP. You do have a root in your kit, though, so there is at least some self-peel. A final thing worth noting is the long bow provides access to the Flash Arrow skill – the only anti-stealth ability in the game.

Wand and Tome

The only dedicated healing weapon in the game, the wand is a top-tier weapon for its utility alone. Unsurprisingly, it’s a solo player’s best friend when slotted into the off-hand spot, as it allows you to top yourself up while dishing out damage. The wand also comes with CC in the form of sleep, which brings some much-needed peel to the table.

Sleep’s also a crucial part of the wand’s DPS rotation, which revolves around curses that deal damage over time, and can be expunged for a single big kaboom. While you’re not going to be laying down the hurt to the same extent as dedicated DPS options, the wand still packs a punch – especially when paired with the Staff.

A-tier

Dagger

The dagger might not have the most impressive DPS as a main hand weapon, but its synergy with pretty much every other weapon in the game when slapped into the off-hand slot makes it the most versatile option on our Throne and Liberty weapons tier list. So what makes it a top-tier off-hand pick? Well, considering the likes of the crossbow and long bow scale with crit, the dagger’s crit buffs are paramount to maxing out the DPS charts.

It also comes with supportive boons to your evasiveness – stealth being the biggest – and access to debuffs. The dagger’s gap-closer not only allows you to quickly close the distance but also root enemies – a massive boon if you’re running a melee-based class. Though it’s not quite as prolific as the wand in terms of raw off-hand juice, it’s still a must-use in certain set-ups.

B-tier

Greatsword

The best melee weapon in Throne and Liberty, the greatsword is all about landing slow, heavy hits that decimate health bars. What really makes the greatsword tick, though, is its access to reliable CC in the form of knockdowns and stuns – without them, you won’t be able to land your killer blows on mobile targets. As such, you will need specific setups to make the most of this mighty weapon.

C-tier

Staff

If dropping huge area of effect spells on hordes of enemies gives you that warm tingly feeling, then you’ll love the staff. Considering its specialty, it should come as no surprise that the staff is one of the best powerlevelling weapons in Throne and Liberty thanks to it ability to clear mobs with ease. Of course, it’s not perfect, and in return for your powerful spells you’ll have to deal with long cast times, limited mobility, and low survivability save for its CC.

Sword and Shield

The survivability king, locking in the sword and shield is a must if you want to tank in Throne and Liberty. Providing damage reduction alongside the ability to block damage and heal yourself, the sword and shield sacrifice damage so you can become an unkillable beast.

The bread and butter of the sword and shield is its propensity for controlling enemy aggro as well as the flow of battle. With the sword and shield equipped, you gain access to a taunt – a must-have ability for any tank – as well as CC skills that can both push enemies away and pull them in for your team to dispatch. While it may seem counterintuitive to have Sword and Shield in C-tier as the only dedicated tanking weapon, in isolation its lack of damage can outweigh its sustain when facing harder content.

Fortunately, between its synergy with the greatsword and wand, the sword and shield help constitute two of the strongest loadouts in the game. You’ll have a harder time levelling than with some of the other weapons, but in return, you’ll never have an issue finding a group to run content with – every team needs a tank.

Best Throne and Liberty weapon combinations

The best Throne and Liberty weapon combinations are:

  • Crossbow/Dagger
  • Greatsword/Dagger
  • Long Bow/Staff
  • Long Bow/Wand
  • Staff/Dagger
  • Staff/Wand
  • Sword and Shield/Greatsword
  • Sword and Shield/Wand

Crossbow/Dagger

First up we have the ultimate run-‘n-gun glass cannon combo which pairs the crossbow up with the dagger. The dagger will bolster your critical hits while offering up utility and stealth to further reinforce the crossbow’s strengths. Whether in PvE or PvP you will be able to melt through even the tankiest enemies.

Greatsword/Dagger

If you plan to run the greatsword as a DPS then we’d recommend utilizing the dagger as your off-hand pick. The bonus mobility – specifically the gap-closer – it affords is incredibly important when it comes to actually accessing mobile targets (especially in PvP). Get in close, stun, big bonk, gg.

Long Bow/Staff

If you want to nuke from long-range, we’d recommend pairing the long bow with the staff. Mixing the long bow’s single-target burst with the staff’s AoE damage will make you a monstrous threat from afar.

Long Bow/Wand

For a supportive setup, we’d recommend pairing the long bow with the wand. This combination constitutes arguably the best healer spec in the game, thanks to the blend of supportive skills both weapons provide. Specifically, the long bow offers CC, cooldown resets similarly to the crossbow, the ability to cleanse debuffs, and health regen, so you can imagine how potent it is with the support-oriented wand.

Staff/Dagger

Staff/Dagger already a very popular combination and for good reason – it hits hard with the staff’s big AoE spells and dagger’s crit amp, while the mobility afforded by the dagger helps keep you out of danger. It’s also a more approachable build than the crossbow one, with simple rotations providing a great way to get into playing a DPS-oriented role if you’re new to the game.

Staff/Wand

Alongside the long bow and dagger, we’d also recommend marrying up the staff with the wand for the ultimate magical AoE combo. While your damage output won’t necessarily be optimal compared to the non-magical range/melee options, the wand will help bolster the staff’s already top-tier AoE potential, while enabling access to team-wide healing.

Sword and Shield/Greatsword

The sword and shield/greatsword combo forms the best tank loadout in Throne and Liberty. Not only do you get ridiculous survivability from the sword and shield, but you can keep mobs and players alike CC’d with ease thanks to the greatsword’s kit. So if you’d rather just stand stalwart and laugh as players and monsters alike try and fail to kill you before your team crushes them, this is the way to go.

Sword and Shield/Wand

When combining the sword and shield with the wand, you effectively become Throne and Liberty’s equivalent of World of Warcraft’s Paladin – a tank that can also sustain the party with the wand’s AoE healing and other supportive skills. It’s ludicrously strong, and a great hybrid role if you don’t want to put all of your eggs into the healer basket.

And that’s our full Throne and Liberty weapons tier list. The rankings will, without a doubt, change over time as NCSoft tweaks the multiplayer game’s balance, so be sure to check back when major patches drop to ensure you’re staying on top of the meta.
