Bing Combines AI Into Search To Give Users The Best Generative Search Experience

Bing is making the most of generative AI in search to give users the best search results.

The company is busy testing the latest generative AI search experience where its language models would harvest search results that ensure users’ experience is at par with that seen on other leading search engines.

The company shared the news through a new blog post where it confirmed the use of both its LLMs and SLMs inside search to produce some unique and efficient designs for UX layouts. And as you can imagine, the news is huge considering how the world is now evolving more towards AI-powered search.

To better understand what generative search on Bing means, we saw the firm’s parent company Microsoft shed more light on this front. It spoke about how the goal was to combine the greatness of language models into search results.

This means every search query or prompt rolled out will first go through millions of data that result in dynamic content matches. And in the end, the user gets the best search results via the latest layout that’s generated through AI technology. This would ensure every query is answered to the best of the system’s capabilities.

A screenshot was also rolled out to better make users understand what Bing was aiming for. Several elements on offer displayed how Bing was rolling out its own search results page featuring generative AI technology and Search from the Bing platform. There was a unique document index, a reply summary, and some classic search results present on the right-hand side. Other than that, users can find citations for their AI replies, more relatable sections, and beyond.

Bing will go into the history of what’s being asked, provide the best examples related to the topic for the best clarification, and even give rise to where it may have first originated. Furthermore, the user is given the chance to dig deeper than what the usual search results would offer.

But don’t be afraid because those who are not fond of AI don’t have to use it as the platform promises to produce the usual search results on the page as it used to do so you have the best of both worlds at your fingertips.

The feature is currently in the testing phase for now but with time, Microsoft says it’s working on rolling this out. It hopes to be very careful in terms of making sure the right feedback from users is attained and how it can better tweak the endeavor to generate the best user experience before a bigger launch to the masses occurs.
